COVID-19 Palliative: ODSG assures of equitable distribution, as WEMA Bank donates food items


As Wema bank PLC donates food items to complement the effort of Ondo State government to cushion the effect of COVID-19 pandemic, the bank has been assured of equitable distribution to the targeted people.


The Management of WEMA bank, led by the Zonal Manager, Ondo Zone, Mr. Adeniyi Owaduge, today handed over 3,000 bags of rice in a 5kg size, 200 cartons of vegetable oil, and 500 cartons of Honeywell noodles, to the palliatives committee set up by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN.


Receiving the items at the government House store in Alagbaka Akure, the chairman of the committee, Pastor Akin Olotu commended the gesture and called on other corporate bodies and well-meaning individuals in Ondo State to emulate WEMA bank.


He said: “We are assuring you that there will be equitable distribution of these items to the targeted populace across the state”.


Earlier, the bank’s Zonal Manager had noted that the donation was in line with their corporate social responsibilities to the public, and to complement the effort of the state government in bringing succour to the vulnerable ones in the society due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


“The executive management of WEMA bank, led by Mr. Ademola Adebise has asked us to bring these relief items to supplement the food bank of the state government.


“We are all aware of the COVID-19 scourge which has become pandemic across the whole world and at this time of lockdown, a lot of people will be affected, especially those who get their daily meal through daily business.
“Our target is the vulnerable segment of the society”. He said.
