Former Special Adviser to the Governor of Ondo State on Gender Matters, Chief Olamide Falana, has extended warm congratulations to Chief (Mrs.) Alice Mobolaji Osomo on the occasion of her 90th birthday, describing her as an exceptional woman whose life of service, excellence and integrity has left an indelible mark on Ondo State and Nigeria.
In a congratulatory message, Chief Falana said Chief Osomo’s remarkable journey from a young girl in Igbotu, Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State, to becoming one of Nigeria’s most accomplished women in law, politics and public service remains a source of inspiration to countless women and young people across the country.
According to her, Mama Osomo demonstrated brilliance and determination from an early age. After training as a teacher, she earned a scholarship under the late sage, Obafemi Awolowo, to study in England, where she was called to the English Bar in 1967 before being called to the Nigerian Bar in 1968.
Chief Falana noted that Chief Osomo distinguished herself in legal practice for more than a decade before venturing into public service, where she made history in 1979 as Commissioner for Trade, Industries and Co-operatives in Ondo State, becoming the only female member of the state’s first civilian cabinet.
She further recalled that Chief Osomo later served the nation meritoriously as Federal Minister for Establishment and Management Services between 1993 and 1995, contributing significantly to national development through her wealth of experience and leadership.
Mama Osomo as she is fondly called has contributed immensely to development of Apoiland in areas of education, infrastructural development and lots more.
“At 90, Chief (Mrs.) Alice Mobolaji Osomo remains a shining example of resilience, courage, discipline and selfless service.
Her accomplishments as a scholar, legal luminary, politician, corporate leader and respected matriarch have earned her a special place in the history of our state and nation.
“Her life is a testament to the fact that with determination, hard work and commitment to excellence, women can break barriers and attain greatness in every sphere of life. She has continued to inspire generations of women to aspire to leadership and contribute meaningfully to society,” Falana stated.
The former Gender Adviser prayed for God’s continued blessings upon the nonagenarian, wishing her sound health, peace, joy and many more years of fulfillment.
Chief Falana urged women, youths and emerging leaders to emulate the virtues exemplified by Chief Osomo, whose enduring legacy of service and dedication continues to illuminate the path for future generations.
