The Ondo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public, particularly residents of the Ondo South Senatorial District, that there will be a restriction of vehicular movement from 0600hrs to 1800hrs on Saturday, 20th June, 2026, in line with security arrangements put in place for the conduct of the Ondo South Senatorial District By-Election.

This measure is aimed at ensuring a peaceful, orderly, and credible electoral process, as well as safeguarding the lives and property of all residents throughout the election period.

The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, psc, mnips, mspsp, assures members of the public that adequate security personnel have been strategically deployed across the Senatorial District to provide security at polling units, collation centres, electoral offices, and other vulnerable points.

Consequently, all forms of vehicular movement and transportation on waterways within the affected areas of the Senatorial District will be restricted during the stated period, except for essential services such as accredited officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), election observers, duly accredited journalists, emergency service providers, and other individuals specifically authorized by law to perform election-related duties. Security operatives will maintain strict surveillance across land and waterways to prevent any unauthorized movement capable of compromising the electoral process.

The Command warns that unauthorized movement of vehicles, boats, or any activity capable of disrupting the electoral process will not be tolerated. Security agencies have been directed to enforce the restriction professionally and decisively, while ensuring respect for the rights of law-abiding citizens.

The Commissioner of Police further cautions political actors, their supporters, and members of the public against acts of violence, voter intimidation, vote-buying, thuggery, or any other conduct capable of undermining the integrity of the electoral process. Anyone found violating electoral laws or engaging in activities likely to cause a breach of peace will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The CP reassures residents that the Command has intensified intelligence gathering, visibility policing, strategic patrols, and coordinated operations with other security agencies to ensure a secure environment before, during, and after the election.

CP Felix Ohagwu appreciates the Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Hon. Dr. Orimisan Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for his continuous support towards strengthening security architecture in the State. He also commends the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, for his visionary leadership and strategic guidance in ensuring adequate security for electoral processes across the country.

Conclusively, the Ondo State Police Command remains fully committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring that the Ondo South Senatorial District By-Election is conducted in an atmosphere of peace, safety, and public confidence.
