..honour her with Philanthropist Award

The Imo Youth Ambassadors Nationwide have endorsed Labour Party candidate for Owerri Federal Constituency, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, for the 2027 House of Representatives election, describing her as a leader with the experience, vision and commitment needed to deliver quality representation.

The endorsement was made during a solidarity visit by the youth group on June 20, 2026, where the former First Lady of Ondo State was also presented with a Renowned Philanthropist Award in recognition of her contributions to youth development, digital transformation, innovation and humanitarian service.

Speaking during the visit, Anyanwu-Akeredolu expressed gratitude for the honour, noting that she was surprised by the award.

She said members of the delegation explained that their decision was informed by her humanitarian activities in Ondo State, which they had followed through social media and testimonies from beneficiaries of her interventions.

According to her, the group expressed confidence that similar programmes would be extended to youths in Owerri Federal Constituency if elected.

The Labour Party candidate highlighted her passion for youth development, particularly through the BEMORE Summer Bootcamp, a programme she established in 2017 to equip secondary school girls with skills in Information and Communication Technology, solar technology and other areas relevant to the digital economy.

She explained that the initiative earned her the nickname “Digital Mama” because of her commitment to promoting digital literacy and skills acquisition among young people.

Anyanwu-Akeredolu disclosed that more than 3,000 girls, including over 200 from Imo State, had benefited from the programme.

She added that participants graduate with laptops and solar home systems to enable them to continue learning and applying the skills acquired during training.

According to her, many beneficiaries are now students in tertiary institutions who earn income through their digital skills.

She further revealed plans to expand the BEMORE model through the Empower2Become Initiative if elected to the House of Representatives.

The proposed programme, she said, would cater to both male and female youths across Owerri Federal Constituency, providing opportunities for skills development and economic empowerment.

In a statement signed by its President, Hon. Engr. Amb. Ezinwa Ebuzoama Godsend Chibuike, and Secretary, Hon. Engr. Amb. Ekeh Jaachi Kingsley, the Imo Youth Ambassadors Nationwide said its endorsement followed careful consideration of the qualities required for effective representation.

The group stated that Anyanwu-Akeredolu’s track record in leadership, youth and women empowerment, and community development convinced it that she is best positioned to advance the interests of the constituency.

The organisation also called on residents of Owerri Municipal, Owerri North and Owerri West Local Government Areas, particularly youths, to support leadership that promotes unity, empowerment and sustainable development.

The event ended with the unveiling of Anyanwu-Akeredolu’s campaign slogan, “ADA OWERE for ME, for YOU, and for ALL,” which was enthusiastically echoed by members of the youth delegation.
