..as Poroye charges parents on child development

CABATAF Nursery and Primary School, Ijapo Estate, Akure, on Tuesday, celebrated its Annual End-of-Session and Graduation Ceremony with a call on parents and stakeholders to continue nurturing children for a brighter future.

The colourful event, attended by government officials, education stakeholders, parents and well-wishers, featured the graduation of pupils, exhibition of innovative projects, cultural performances and a review of the school’s achievements during the 2025/2026 academic session.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of the ceremony, Prince Olabiyi Poroye, urged parents and society at large to invest in the future of children by providing them with the necessary guidance and support.

Describing children as the future of the nation, Poroye, who is also the Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), said they should be nurtured with care, discipline and encouragement to enable them to attain their full potential.

“We represent today, and they represent the future. Anywhere you see the future, the best you can do is nurture them, guide them, pray for them and encourage them,” he said.
He congratulated the graduating pupils for successfully completing their primary education and prayed for God’s guidance as they proceed to secondary school.

The OSOPADEC Chairman also commended the pupils for their creativity displayed during the exhibition and encouraged parents and guests to patronise the exhibition stands to motivate the young innovators.

Earlier, the School Director, Pastor Yinka Ogunode, appreciated parents, invited guests and members of staff for their unwavering support and commitment to the growth of the school.

He congratulated the graduating pupils on reaching another academic milestone and appreciated parents for their understanding and continued confidence in the school.

In her welcome address, Queen David-Olijogun, who spoke on behalf of the pupils, thanked God for a successful session and expressed appreciation to parents for their love and support, as well as teachers and the school management for their dedication to the academic and moral development of the pupils.

One of the major attractions of the event was a presentation titled “Cabataf in Retrospect,” delivered by pupils Queen David-Olijogun and Marvelous Akinbode, highlighting the school’s academic and co-curricular activities during the 2025/2026 session.

The presentation showcased activities including the Nigeria @65 celebration, Young Inventors Fair, Jean Carnival, New Year Thanksgiving, inauguration of school prefects, International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Mother Tongue (Asa) Day, International Day of the Boy Child and Children’s Day celebration, all aimed at promoting academic excellence, leadership, patriotism, cultural values and creativity among pupils.

Another highlight of the ceremony was an exhibition of innovative projects by the pupils. The exhibition featured miniature road and building construction models, electrical projects, paper-made car models and science experiments involving water and salt solutions, demonstrating the pupils’ creativity, practical skills and problem-solving abilities.

Parents and guests commended the school for exposing pupils to practical learning that complements classroom instruction.

The ceremony also featured musical performances, cultural displays and the presentation of certificates to graduating pupils amidst applause from parents and invited guests.

Notable personalities in attendance included the Ondo State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Tob Loko, and the Director-General of Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC), Hon. Kenneth Odusola, among others.
