The Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB) has announced the commencement of a verification and interview exercise for applicants affected by irregularities that occurred during the last primary school teachers’ recruitment exercise in the state.
The exercise follows the approval granted by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa during the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, directing that all genuinely qualified applicants adversely affected by the recruitment irregularities be considered for absorption into the state’s public primary school teaching service.
According to the Board, the Governor’s intervention reflects his commitment to justice, fairness, and the welfare of residents, particularly those whose aspirations were disrupted through no fault of their own.
To implement the Governor’s directive, ODSUBEB constituted a Verification Committee to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the credentials and recruitment records of all affected applicants. The committee is tasked with identifying applicants who genuinely participated in the recruitment exercise, satisfied the prescribed requirements, and qualify for consideration under the Governor’s approval.
The committee, chaired by Comrade Bola Taiwo, held its inaugural meeting on Friday, June 26, 2026, where it finalised the modalities for the exercise and approved a schedule for the verification and interview across the state’s three senatorial districts.
According to the timetable, applicants from Ondo Central Senatorial District will be screened on Tuesday, June 30, and Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at St. James’ Caring Heart Mega Primary School, Irowo, Akure.
The exercise for Ondo South Senatorial District is scheduled for Monday, July 6, and Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at St. Mark Caring Heart Mega Primary School, Ore, while applicants from Ondo North Senatorial District will be screened on Wednesday, July 8, and Thursday, July 9, 2026, at St. Gregory Caring Heart Mega Primary School, Ikare-Akoko.
All applicants are expected to report to their designated venues by 8:00 a.m. and appear in person with the originals and photocopies of all academic certificates, birth certificate or declaration of age, printed copy of the recruitment application form, appointment letter, and posting letter to their schools.
ODSUBEB stressed that participation in the verification and interview exercise is mandatory, noting that only applicants whose credentials and recruitment records are successfully verified and authenticated will be recommended for further processing in line with the Ondo State Government’s approval.
The Board assured applicants that the exercise would be conducted in a transparent, fair, credible, and merit-based manner, while reaffirming its commitment to due process and equal opportunity for all qualified candidates.
It also advised affected applicants to report promptly on their scheduled dates and comply fully with all verification requirements, warning that failure to appear or present the required documents could affect their eligibility for consideration.
ODSUBEB expressed appreciation to applicants for their patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout the process. The Board also commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for what it described as his exceptional leadership and people-centred disposition, saying his intervention has restored hope to many deserving applicants.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening basic education in Ondo State through the recruitment of competent, qualified, and dedicated teachers who will contribute meaningfully to the development of the state’s education sector.
