The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a suspect, Samuel Akoade, in connection with the killing of a 60-year-old woman, Mrs. Olufunke Amoo, at Ore in Odigbo Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on Sunday, 16th August 2026, after the Command received a report that the deceased was found lying in a pool of blood at her residence. Preliminary findings indicated she had sustained deep machete cuts and was already dead when discovered.Police operatives from the Ore Division mobilised to the scene immediately, secured the area, and began preliminary investigations.
A machete suspected to have been used in the attack was recovered, and the crime scene was photographed and documented.The suspect, initially identified only as “Samuel,” reportedly fled before police arrived. However, following sustained efforts by operatives, he was tracked down and arrested.
He remains in police custody, while the victim’s remains have been deposited at the mortuary. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Akure for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix N. Ohagwu, has directed that investigators handle the case thoroughly and professionally to establish the full circumstances of the killing and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.
The Command reassured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property in the state, and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the police, particularly regarding suspicious activities within their communities.
