The Founder of BEMORE Empowered Girls Foundation, Dr. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has reaffirmed her commitment to the empowerment and advancement of women and girls across Nigeria, describing their development as critical to the nation’s sustainable future.
Anyanwu-Akeredolu stated this in her welcome address at the opening ceremony of the 2026 BEMORE Summer Bootcamp, tagged in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday.

The former Ondo State First Lady, who is currently the Labour Party candidate for the House of Representatives for Owerri Federal Constituency, said her ongoing political campaign had not diminished her commitment to the development of women and girls.

According to her, Women and Girl-Child Development remains one of the key pillars of her manifesto because she believes that the progress of any society depends significantly on the empowerment of its women and girls.

“A society that empowers its girls is investing in its future. A society that educates its women is strengthening its families and communities.
“A society that gives women and girls the opportunity to reach their full potential is laying the foundation for sustainable development,” she said.

Ayanwu-Akeredolu said although her political aspiration was focused on representing the people of Owerri Federal Constituency and promoting the welfare of women and girls in Imo State, her vision for women empowerment was not restricted by geography.
She said, “Whether you are from Imo, Oyo, Ondo, Lagos, Kano, Rivers, or any other part of Nigeria, you are all our girls.
“The advancement of women and girls is a national responsibility, and that is why my commitment to this cause remains unwavering.”
The founder explained that the BEMORE Summer Bootcamp was established to go beyond providing girls with a holiday experience, noting that the programme was designed to build a generation of confident, knowledgeable, innovative and responsible young women.
She said the initiative would expose the girls to opportunities that would enable them to contribute meaningfully to their communities, Nigeria and the world.
“Through this Bootcamp, we are not merely gathering girls for a holiday experience. We are deliberately building a generation of confident, knowledgeable, innovative and responsible young women who understand that they can contribute meaningfully to their communities, Nigeria and the world,” she said.

While assuring parents and guardians of the safety of the girls at the camp, Anyanwu-Akeredolu commended the Chief Matron, Mrs Kelechi Igboegwu, the Assistant Matrons, Resource Persons and camp management team for their commitment to the programme.

She also appreciated the technical partners, Ashdam Solar and Matrix Technologies, for their support in exposing the girls to practical knowledge and opportunities in technology, renewable energy and innovation.
The BEMORE founder equally expressed appreciation to the Nigeria American Football Association (NAFA)/BROWNS, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Foundation (OAF), Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu Foundation (BAAF) and Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) for supporting the initiative.

She urged the participating girls to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the bootcamp, asking them to learn with curiosity, ask questions, build friendships, work together and step outside their comfort zones.
“You have been given an opportunity to become MORE—and I want every one of you to leave this camp better, stronger, wiser and more confident than when you arrived,” she said.
Ayanwu-Akeredolu further assured the girls that despite her absence from the opening ceremony due to her campaign activities in Owerri, she remained committed to their welfare and the broader mission of empowering women and girls across Nigeria.
“While ADA OWERE is busy campaigning in Owerri, never forget that you are still under my watch, my care and my vision for a better Nigeria,” she told the girls.
