Ado-Ekiti – A suspected burglar met his downfall on Sunday, February 2, 2025, when residents of Iyana Emirin, Zone C, along Federal Polytechnic Road, Ado-Ekiti, apprehended him during a daylight robbery.

The middle-aged man who claimed to be from Oke-Bola area of Ado-Ekiti, along with two accomplices who managed to escape, allegedly broke into a three-bedroom apartment around 10 a.m.

Eyewitnesses claim the gang had previously robbed the same house twice, often seen wandering the area with a ladder under the guise of bricklayers.

The burglars had already dismantled an air conditioner, a plasma TV, and other household appliances when the homeowners unexpectedly returned from a trip.

In a desperate attempt to flee, the suspect tried to scale the fence but lost his footing, smashing his head on the ground before tumbling into a nearby river.



Angry residents quickly descended on him, stripping him naked before the timely intervention of officers from the Odo-Ado Police Division, who rescued him from mob justice.

Authorities have launched a manhunt for the two fleeing suspects.
