The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspected fraudsters in two separate cases involving a Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 worth N23 million and a £10,000 (about N19 million) UK student visa scam.

Parading themselves as legitimate vehicle dealers, two of the suspects, identified as Bisi Vado and one simply known as Small Autos, allegedly collected the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 from a complainant, Michael Oluwafemi, under the guise of helping him import another vehicle from abroad.

They reportedly also collected an additional N4 million from him for the same transaction.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), DSP Abayomi Jimoh investigations revealed that after taking possession of the vehicle and the money, the duo failed to deliver on the agreement and instead converted the proceeds to personal use.

Detectives attached to the Command Monitoring Unit tracked and arrested the pair following intelligence gathering, and the case remains under investigation as police work to recover the proceeds.

In a separate case, the Command arrested Gbenga Omileye over an alleged £10,000 fraud involving a UK student visa scheme dating back to 2022.

Police said the suspect collected the money from a complainant, Akinjomo Peter, on the pretext of securing UK student visas for the complainant’s wife and niece.

He allegedly forwarded an admission letter purportedly linked to the study plan, which was later found to be fake. The suspect was arrested by Command Monitoring Unit detectives on 31 August 2026.

Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, commended the detectives for their diligence in unravelling the cases and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven, proactive policing to protect residents from fraud.

Ondo police urged members of the public to exercise caution before entrusting large sums of money or valuable property to individuals, particularly in dealings involving vehicle importation, travel, education, and visa processing.

According to the PPRO, the three suspects remain in custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
