As the second Summit of the Foundation for Wives of Ondo State Officials, FOWOSO, ends today, women across the 18 local government areas of the state in attendance smile home with gifts varying from gas cylinder, sewing machine, generator, grinding machine, cooking ingredients among others.
Addressing the participants, the wife of Ondo state governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu emphasised that FOWOSO, was committed to increasing the coast of knowledge and skills of every woman in the state.
Arabinrin Akeredolu, who stated this at the grand finale of the second edition of FOWOSO summit at Arcade ground Akure the state capital, noted that the Foundation was founded for every woman regardless of educational and social status, and not for the elite.
According to her, FOWOSO believes that every woman matters, hence the reason for creating self-awareness that women are not less important than their male counterparts.
She noted that the need to change the narrative about women and lay a solid foundation birthed the BEMORE Summer Bootcamp for Girls naija where they were trained and encouraged to explore their potential.
Arabinrin, while commenting on the theme of the summit, ‘Prioritising Women’s Health and Wellbeing in Nigeria’, said for a woman to do exploits in life, she must be healthy.
She expressed her readiness and of the FOWOSO initiative to prioritise women’s health in Ondo state, while charging them to cultivate the habit of eating right in order to gain enough strength to promote the well-being of their families.
She also used the medium to appealed to men to be alive to their responsibilities and be part of child upbringing, so as to raise the generation of healthy and responsible children who would make a balance society for all.
The royal father of the day, Olugbo of Ugboland, Oba Dr.Frederick Akinruntan commended Mrs. Akeredolu’s commitment to assist Ondo women, describing her initiatives as demonstration of her love towards her husband and the people of the state.
Olugbo, Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas however reiterated his commitment to mobilise other traditional rulers to support the reelection of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
The grand finale features old people’s dancing competition, cooking competition, couples’ tying of gele and tie, and dish washing for young girls.
Winners of old people’s dance went home with gas cylinders, cooking competition with Mamador’s ingredients, dish washing went home with PZ cartons of detergents.
For the raffle draw session, participants won generators, sewing and grinding machines, and gas cylinders which was conducted local government by local government.
The FOWOSO Calendar was also launched, while the winners of the Crawlers race competition received their cheques.
