CATHOLIC VICAR ALLEGES POSSIBLE RIGGING OF 2019 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

The Episcopal Vicar of the Lekki Región of the catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, Very Reverend Monsignor Francis Ogunmodede says, there are signs of possible rigging of the 2019 Presidential Elections due to the perennial problems since the last Ekiti State Governorship Elections.

Speaking at an opening mass for the 2018 National Convention of the catholic media practitioners association of Nigeria, CAMPAN held on Friday at SS Phillip and James Catholic Church Lekki, Lagos state, Monsignor Ogunmodede emphasised, that the last Ekiti state Governorship Election is alleged to have been rigged in favour of APC.

He therefore put forward the question “If INEC is not trusted to conduct free and fair election, what shall we do? ”

The Catholic Vicar said, at the moment, Nigeria is boiling socially, economically, religiously and Politically due to the dual problem of insecurity and migration of People caused by the incessant killing of farmers by Herdsmen.

He noted that the violence created by Boko haram and herdsmen are unprecedented and unparralled in the history of Nigeria adding that federal appointments is another problem because various posts have been dominated by muslims and those of the ethnic fulani tribe.

The clergyman said, consequent upon this, there is the fear of Islamization, palpable and growing in the Nation.

On the on going decamping of politicians from the APC to the opposition PDP and other parties, the catholic vicar said that it is obvious that things are not well with Government and the leadership in the nation and charged media practitioners to be alive to their responsibilities as members of the fourth estate of the realm.
