The Chairman, Ondo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Dr Mrs Daisi Oke, has charged teachers in public secondary schools across the state to remain committed, dedicated and efficient in the discharge of their duties.

Oke gave the charge during a monitoring and supervision tour of public secondary schools across the state to assess the level of compliance with the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session.

She said the exercise was aimed at assessing teachers’ welfare, the conduciveness of the school environment for effective teaching and learning, as well as the level of preparedness of schools for the new academic session.

“One of the purposes of this general monitoring is to ensure the welfare of our teachers and check the conduciveness of the environment for teaching and learning. This is one of our main priorities and statutory duties,” she said.

The TESCOM boss commended teachers for their impressive attendance during the first week of resumption, urging them to ensure that students also resume promptly and take the beginning of the academic session seriously.

She said TESCOM was determined to discourage the practice of students staying away from school during the first week of resumption.

“We want to discourage the attitude of students not coming to school during the first week of resumption. I will, therefore, implore principals and teachers to get in touch with the parents of students who are still absent from school,” she added.

Oke further urged teachers to see their profession as a responsibility to shape the future of the students by imparting knowledge, instilling sound morals and values, and positively influencing the lives of those under their care.

She encouraged them to redouble their efforts and leave behind legacies worthy of emulation.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of TESCOM, Mr Sule Adeyemi, who led a team to public secondary schools in Ondo North Senatorial District, expressed satisfaction with the attendance of teachers during the exercise.

Adeyemi commended the teachers for their commitment and urged them to sustain the tempo, stressing that they should not relent after the monitoring exercise but continue to work towards giving students the best education.

The monitoring exercise was conducted simultaneously across the three senatorial districts.

The TESCOM Chairman led a team comprising the Commissioner II, Mrs Titilayo Fayoriju, and the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Dr Olugbenga Fakinlede, to schools in Ondo Central Senatorial District.

The Commissioner I, Hon. Ajani Oladipo, led a team to Ondo South, while Commissioners III and IV, Mrs Ojuolape Aderemi and Alhaji Isiaka Usman, respectively, led teams to schools in Ondo North.
