The men of the Nigerian Police Force, Akure command have dragged more men before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Akure over their alleged involvement in the burning of Sotitobire Church Oshinle Akure , where one year old boy, Gold Kolawole got missing last year.

Four men, a Vulcaniser, Sunday Ajayi, 22 Emmanuel Ibironke, 33, Joshua Gabriel, 24, and Jacob Endurance, 26, were brought before Magistrate Mrs Charity Adeyanju for alleged murder, attempted arson, malicious damage and stealing.

They were alleged, with others at large to have committed the offence on December 18, 2019 at Oda town in Akure, the state capital.

The 22 years old vulcaniser who was arraigned separately over an alleged murder was, however, remanded in Olokuta Correctional Centre.

According to the charge sheet, the three other accused persons were found with bucket of petroleum products in an attempt to burn Alfa Babatunde Olumoyo’s house, located at Sunshine Estate, Oda, being the founder of Sotitobire Church.

They were alleged of willfully and unlawfully damage Toyota Siena, Range rover Jeep, Toyota venza, Toyota Camry and Lexus car valued at N250 million, belonging to Alfa Babatunde Olumoyo.

While, Joshua Gabriel and Jacob Endurance, were also alleged of stealing 4/ half mattress and ringing bell both valued at N17,000.

The offence committed was said to be contrary to 383 and punishable under Sections 516, 443 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37, Vol1, laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

The prosecutor, inspector Uloh Goodluck, prayed the court for an adjournment to enable him gather all his witnesses before the court on next adjournment.

The defense counsel, Messr M.M Ogungbemi, prayed the court to grant all the defendants bail

Magistrate Adeyanju, therefore, granted the defendants bail in sum of 1million naira, with a surety in like sum.

The surety must be a credible person, swear an affidavit of means, and attached two passport photographs, the court police shall verify the residence of both the surety and the defendants.

The case was adjourned till February 14, 2020

The 22 year old Vulcaniser was said to have committed the offences of arson, murder and stealing on the same day which contravene sections 383 and punishable under sections 324, 516,319(1), 443(a), 451.

He was alleged to have killed one Sergeant Sheidu Ocheopo (m) by smashing him to death with tyre rim and stones at Sotitobire Church, Oshinle, while performing his lawful duty.

He was also alleged of setting ablaze Sotitobire Church Oshinle and Ajipowo branches, including Police Hilux patrol vehicle, AK47 rifle with breach No, 4777 and some vehicles belonging to individuals valued at N200 million.

Other items that was set ablaze, according to the charge were; Toyota Siena, Range rover Jeep, Toyota venza, Toyota Camry and Lexus car valued at N250 million, belonging to Alfa Babatunde Olumoyo.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Uloh Goodluck, prayed the court to remand the defendant to join his colleagues who were already at Olokuta Correctional Service Centre, saying the case was a sister case to MAK/ 412c/19, pending the legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

The prosecutor affirmed that there was a video showing the defendant in the act of the offence he was alleged of.

Magistrate Mrs Charity Adeyanju, therefore, ordered his remand at Olokuta Correctional Service Centre, pending legal advice from DPP’s office.

The case was adjourned till March 30, 2020 for legal advice.
