Development: FG reiterates readiness to partner ODSG

As Ondo state opened a two-day State Development Partners Summit and re-launch of the State Education Endowment Fund (OSEEF), tagged “Develop Ondo” , the Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to partner the state to achieve its developmental initiatives.

The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo stated this while declaring open the summit at the International Event and Culture Centre (The Dome), Akure today.

Osinbajo who was represented by Dr. Isa Aliyu Ibrahim,the Director General, National Information Technology Agency (NITDA) , reiterated the readiness of federal government to partner the state to harness all the potentials.

According to him, the state has always been a pace setter coming to issue of development, both national and globally.

The Vice President who described education as the basis for any meaningful development in the society, called on the people of the state to always give their maximum support to developmental processes put up by the Akeredolu-led administration.

Osinbajo mentioned that the legacies of the late sage ,Chief Michael Adekunle Ajasin can not be over-emphasised especially the free education which template originated from Ondo state by the sage, became a global trend.

The state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) reinstated the commitment of the current administration in the state towards growth, development and sustainable partnership of all the sectors of the economy for the benefit of the people.

Akeredolu posited that the essence of the summit was to gather relevant development partners and deliberate on how to develop and move the state forward.

The Governor noted that the state is rich and abound with potentials both human and materials that need to be harnessed and make the state the leading factor in the economy of South West geopolitical zone in the country, especially in oil and gas, so also agriculture.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Enitan, Ojaja ll, who was also at the summit, described ondo state as one with the longest coastal line in Nigeria.

He added that the state has potentials to generate over 500 industries in less than two years if the people and relevant stakeholders join hands in this regard.

The monarch implored the citizenry to continually give necessary support and backing to the government to make progress.

He therefore commended the Akeredolu-led government for her commitment at developing the state.

The re-launch of the state education Endowmment Fund Board of Trustees was inaugurated by the Governor.

The summit was well-attended by relevant stakeholders like financial institutions, international agencies like UNICEF, DFID, UNFPA IITA distinguished personalities.
