The Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC) has declared a three-day warning strike by public servants across the country over what it described as worsening economic and mental hardship.

The warning strike is scheduled to commence from midnight on Friday, October 2, 2026, and end on Sunday, October 4, 2026.

The National Secretary of the JNPSNC, Comrade Olowoyo Gbenga, disclosed this in a circular addressed to the National Presidents and General Secretaries, as well as state chairmen and secretaries of the council.

According to the circular, the decision followed the failure of the Federal Government to address requests contained in a letter earlier sent to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on September 21, 2026.

The council said the three-day warning strike, which had earlier been scheduled, would commence immediately in line with the position of its national leadership.

It directed all public servants in the Federal, State and Local Government services to participate in the action, stressing that the issues affecting workers had implications for their dependants and other vulnerable Nigerians.

“An injury to one is an injury to all, most especially all workers, their dependants, vulnerable and hapless Nigerians who are groaning terribly under the present economic hardship,” the council said.

The JNPSNC further expressed concern over the worsening economic situation, saying, “The economic and mental hardships are becoming unbearable and frustrating.

”The council urged its affiliates and leaders to commence mobilisation of workers for the three-day warning strike, stressing that “the time to act and mobilise workers for the three days warning strike is now.”

The circular was signed by Olowoyo Gbenga, National Secretary, JNPSNC.
