The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority, Hon. Olufemi Adekanmbi PhD, has lauded the decision of the Ondo State Government to rename the International Centre for Culture and Events, popularly known as The Dome in Akure, after former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.

In a statement, Adekanmbi described the move as a fitting and well-deserved tribute to a man whose life and career have been marked by patriotism, selfless service, and uncommon commitment to the development of Ondo State and Nigeria at large.

He said it is even more significant because Dr. Mimiko’s administration constructed the edifice that stands today as one of the most iconic landmarks in the state and a symbol of visionary leadership.

According to him, Dr. Mimiko’s passion for the people, his transformational leadership, and his landmark achievements in health, education, urban renewal, and good governance continue to inspire generations.

“Dr. Mimiko’s zest for patriotic service and people-oriented governance set a standard that will be difficult to surpass. Naming The Dome, a project that is a symbol of his visionary administration, after him is not just symbolic, it is historic and befitting,” Adekanmbi said.

He noted that history will be kind to Iroko for laying a solid foundation for modern Ondo State and for mentoring a new generation of leaders.

He congratulated the former governor on his 72nd birthday and commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for honouring a worthy predecessor in such a remarkable way.
