The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man identified as Solomon Onaola over the alleged defilement of a 15-year-old girl in Omifon, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.The case was first reported at the Odigbo Divisional Police Station before being transferred to the Command’s Gender Based Offences Unit for discreet investigation due to the sensitive nature of the allegation.

According to police, the incident came to light on August 2, 2026, when the guardian of the victim reported that the girl, who worked as a domestic help in her household, had repeatedly left home without permission.

When questioned about her whereabouts, the girl allegedly disclosed that Onaola had been taking her to his late mother’s residence in Omifon, where he allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with her.

Following the report, police operatives launched an investigation that led to the suspect’s arrest.

The victim has since been placed under appropriate care, with authorities following established procedures for cases involving alleged sexual offences against minors.

The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, has directed the Gender Based Offences Unit to carry out a thorough and professional investigation to establish the facts of the case and ensure justice is served.

The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting children and other vulnerable persons from sexual exploitation, abuse and violence, urging parents, guardians and members of the public to remain vigilant over the welfare of children in their care and to promptly report suspected cases of abuse to the police.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. He is expected to be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
