The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, psc, mnips, mspsp, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Ondo State Police Command to strengthening collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Ondo State Chapter, in promoting justice, accountability and the protection of fundamental human rights.

The CP gave the assurance while receiving the State Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission, Mr. Sunday Oyewole Olajire, and his delegation on a courtesy visit to his office at the Command Headquarters, Alagbaka, Akure.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Olajire stated that the purpose of the visit was to strengthen the existing cordial relationship between the Commission and the Ondo State Police Command, inspect police facilities and seek the continued support and cooperation of the Command in the discharge of the Commission’s statutory responsibilities.

The State Coordinator also highlighted the Commission’s National Action Plan (NAP) Programme, stressing its importance in advancing the promotion and protection of human rights through collaborative engagement with security agencies and other critical stakeholders.

He solicited the support of the Ondo State Police Command towards the successful implementation of the programme and other activities of the Commission across the state.Responding, CP Felix Ohagwu appreciated the delegation for the visit and commended the National Human Rights Commission for its unwavering commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights in Nigeria.

He noted that respect for human rights remains a fundamental pillar of professional policing and assured the Commission of the Command’s readiness to sustain its partnership with the NHRC in advancing justice, accountability and the rule of law.

The CP further reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, which prioritises professionalism, respect for human rights, community partnership and service-oriented policing.

The visit concluded with fruitful discussions on areas of mutual interest and a shared commitment to deepening cooperation in the implementation of the National Action Plan Programme and other initiatives aimed at promoting peace, security and the protection of the rights of all residents of Ondo State.
