A 38-year-old man, Nsikak Kingsley, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command over the alleged killing of his biological father, Adone Peter, 65, following a violent altercation at their home in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State.
According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the incident, which has sparked widespread concern among residents, occurred on May 28, 2026, when the suspect allegedly engaged his father in a physical confrontation that left the elderly man with severe head injuries. He was rushed to a medical facility but was subsequently pronounced dead by an attending doctor.
Police launched their investigation following a formal complaint lodged by Daniel Moses, a son of the deceased and brother of the suspect. Detectives swiftly apprehended Kingsley and took him into custody.
According to him, the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation. The suspect remains in police custody and is to be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
Condemning the act, the Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, described it as “unfortunate and reprehensible,” reaffirming the command’s commitment to ensuring justice is served.
He urged residents to resolve disputes through peaceful and lawful means, warning that violence — whether within families or communities — would not be tolerated.
