..pivots to Lower Chamber in Interest of Party Unity

The former First Former Lady of Ondo State and Ada Owere 1,  Dr. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu,  has officially obtained her Certificate of Clearance as the Labour Party candidate for the House of Representatives, Owerri Federal Constituency, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement addressed to her family, supporters, and the people of Owerri Federal Constituency, Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu confirmed the development and offered an explanation for her decision to contest the House of Representatives seat rather than the Senatorial ticket she had previously sought.

“The decision to transition to the House of Representatives race was not an easy one,” she acknowledged, adding that it was made “in the overriding interest of party unity and stability” at a critical time when the Labour Party is working to rebuild following what she described as a prolonged period of internal crisis and court actions.
She cited solidarity with the party’s female leadership as a key factor in her decision, stating that she chose to be “a team player in a party led by a fellow woman” — a value she identified as central to her reasons for joining the Labour Party.
Despite the change in ticket,  Anyanwu-Akeredolu was emphatic that her core mission remains intact. “My mission remains unchanged, regardless of the chamber in which I eventually serve,” she declared, reaffirming her commitment to advancing female representation in elective office and delivering what she described as compassionate, courageous, and purposeful leadership.
She called on her supporters not to despair, urging them to “continue this journey together with renewed determination and hope” as the party sets its sights on 2027.
