Tragedy struck in Idanre, Ondo State, as two seven-year-old boys, identified as Oloyede Ayo and Clinton Koleola, were electrocuted after a live electric wire reportedly fell on a shop along Apefon Road.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday, September 26, 2026, reportedly threw the area into confusion as the two children were said to have been attempting to escape from the shop when the fallen wire came in contact with them.

An eyewitness said the boys were inside the shop when the live wire suddenly fell on the building, triggering panic.According to the eyewitness, the children attempted to flee to safety but were caught by the electrical current, resulting in their deaths.

Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Abayomi, said the Command had commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the electrocution.

Abayomi said preliminary findings indicated that a live electric wire suddenly fell on the shop, electrocuting the children as they attempted to escape.

The police spokesman expressed the Command’s condolences to the families of the deceased, describing the incident as a painful loss.

He assured that the circumstances surrounding the tragedy would be thoroughly investigated.
