The Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has dismissed reports suggesting that academic activities at Fiwasaye Grammar School, Akure, would be suspended due to the proposed visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to an event within the area.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry clarified that students and staff of the school are expected to report for normal academic activities on Monday, May 11, 2026.
The statement, signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Akindele Ige, explained that the clarification became necessary following the circulation of contrary information regarding the school’s operations ahead of the President’s visit.
According to the Ministry, consultations had been held with relevant security agencies, while adequate arrangements had been put in place to ensure safety, smooth movement, and orderly conduct of activities within and around the school environment.
The Ministry therefore urged parents, guardians, students, staff, and members of the public to disregard any rumours suggesting the closure or suspension of activities at the school.
It assured stakeholders that sufficient security measures had been put in place and stressed that there was no cause for alarm.
The Ministry also appreciated the cooperation and understanding of the public regarding the arrangements for the presidential visit.
