..trial to commence soon- Force Spokesman
The Nigeria Police Force has released the names of the three officers who were seen in a viral video assaulting a man in Rivers State.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed this via his twitter account this evening.
He gave their names as :Inspector Adejoh Siaka; Inspector Friday Obaka, and Sgt. Ndiwa Kpuebari from Rivers State. Saying, “These are the men who slapped a man on the road in Rivers.”.
According to him, they reported at the Force Headquarters today and he assured that their trial will soon commence.
CSP Adejobi had on Monday evening announced their arrest by Rivers state police command immediately the video was out.
He tweeted with their pictures: “These men have been arrested, and their commander will personally bring to the Force Headquarters tomorrow Tuesday for further actions. They are 3 in number, attached to RRS, Rivers State. Their action does not portray the police in a good light at all.
“There is no place in our law, or act or training manual or curriculum where slapping or flogging is listed as a measure of arrest or applying minimum force (as stipulated by law) no”.
Reacting to why they appeared at the Force Headquarters in uniform rather than the way they dressed while on the highway, the FPRO described their dressing on t-shirt as unethical while on official duty.
“The charges against them will surely include improper dressing, bc they were on an operation that warranted putting on uniform, so why on T-shirt? He said.
