Ondo State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Alhaji Amidu Takuro has called on members of the Association of Town Planning Consultants of Nigeria (ATOPCON) and other stakeholders in the field of Town Planning to collaborate with the state government to achieve futuristic value for modern physical planning and urban development of major cities and towns in the state.
Alhaji Takuro, who made the call at the inauguration of the State Chapter of the Association in Akure, the state capital, said this is imperative to complement the massive road construction projects and infrastructural development of Akeredolu-led administration with a view to making the state a better place to live and model in Nigeria.
The Commissioner noted that to make human life and the environment functional effectively and aesthetically pleasing in contemporary society, prime consideration must be given to physical planning and urban development, adding that to achieve this, the Akeredolu administration has put machinery in motion to enact new law that would address the inadequacies of the existing one which has been hampering effective management of physical development in the state.

He added that the state government has emplaced a policy that ensured ‘Tittle Documents to be secured before building plan approval could be granted, saying that the development is to reduce associated problems common to land matters.
Alhaji Takuro further stated that the state government has signed Memorandum of Understanding with a private organization ‘UNHABITAT’ on preparation of Master Plan for three selected cities in the state as well as building of a Youth Center as Urban Renewal Program in state capital.

In his welcome address, the ATOPCON President Mr Muyiwa Adelu commended Governor Akeredolu for giant strides in the area of physical transformation and infrastructural development of major cities and towns in the state
Mr Adelu pledged total cooperation of members of the Association to the state government to achieve it’s developmental agenda.
