In its bids to further strengthen the Tradional institutions in the State, the Ondo State Government has presented three Traditional rulers with Kia SUV cars.

Performing the official presentation at the Alagbaka Government House in Akure, the state capital, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN noted that the important roles of Traditional rulers in governance could not be over emphasized.

Represented by his Deputy, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the governor, who described the Traditional rulers as the closest to the people at the grassroots, said his government decided to ease the mobility of the kings in the discharge of their duties.

“This government, as being led by Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN recognises and acknowledges the important roles our Traditional rulers are playing in the governance of Ondo State. They are so close to the grassroots in their areas of jurisdiction, their domains where they are presiding over”…he said.

“‘They collaborate (with the government) in maintaining peace and in community development” .

“And to further enhance their performances, and their roles, so that they can move freely and with ease, in discharging their traditional duties and to also further collaborate with government, this government has decided to give out these SUV cars” , the governor added.

The beneficiaries included, the Deji of Akure who is also the Chairman of the state council of Traditional rulers, Oba Ogunlade Aladelusi, the Agadagba of Arogbo Ijaw Ibe, Pere (Barr) Zacchaeus Egbunu and the Jegun of Ile-Oluji, Oba Dr Oluwole Adetimehin.

Reacting on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi, used the occasion to thank Governor Akeredolu for his recent appointment as the chairman of the state council of Obas.

He also appreciated the government for the honour done him and his colleagues by the car gifts.

In his words, “the joy is just rolling over every minute, just two weeks ago. Now they are presenting me a beautiful SUV” .

“On behalf of other colleagues who benefit from these, we thank Mr Governor. We will continue to support them. Even during my time as the chairman of the Traditional rulers, I will give Mr Governor a hundred per cent support and will make sure other colleagues follow suit”, he concluded.

In attendance are, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon Donald Ojogo, National Coordinator of Pentagon Movement Group ( PMG ), Mr Babajide Akeredolu, Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi who is also the Chairman of Ondo State Council of Obas, Agadagba of Arogbo Ijaw-Ibe, Oba Pere Zaccheaus Doubra Egbunu, Jegun of Ile-Oluji, Oba ( Dr ) Julius Adetimehin who was represented by his Personal Assistant, Chief Ogunmakinwa Clement, Permanent Secretary of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Segun Odunsanya, Permanent Secretary of General Administration, Mr Michael Oshodi and others.
