Christian Leaders in Ondo State have unanimously commended the effort of the governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN at tackling insecurity in the state.
In a statement issued by the leaders, made available to JATS Online Newspaper through the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Ayo Oladapo, they pledged their support for the directive given to Local government chairmen by the governor to set up local vigilantes.
Governor Akeredolu had, on Monday directed local government Chairmen to set up vigilantes to flush out criminals from their hideouts across the state.
“We Christian Leaders from the Mainline Denominations held our meeting at the CAN House on Wednesday, 3rd of March, 2021. We commend Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN, for his initiatives to secure Ondo State from criminals hiding in our forests.
“We particularly praise him for mandating all Local Government Chairmen to organize Local Vigilantes/Hunters to provide security in their Local Governments.
“We support this mandate and therefore plead with all traditional rulers, religious and opinion leaders, as well as all stakeholders to cooperate with their Local Government Chairmen to ensure the successful implementation of this directive.
“Our Governor’s effort to make the security of lives and properties a priority in the State is highly commendable.
