At an inauguration like no other, amid a raging pandemic, in a city that has become a fortress of fences, concrete barriers and security checkpoints, Biden did not mention his predecessor by name, but declared that “democracy has prevailed.” Still, he vowed: “I will be a president for all Americans.”

Biden promised to be a President of all Americans, noting that if there’s unity in the land, America would not fail as it had not been an history of failure for America.

He pleaded with Americans to show respect for one another, to see others as neighbours, treat with dignity, saying that without peace there would be no progress, there would be no nation only chaos.

He said: “The will of the people has been heard, and the Will of the people has been heeded.

“We must confront the rise of white Supremacy and domestic terrorism. My whole soul is in putting America back together and uniting the country”.

As threatened by the outgone President, Donald Trump, he skipped the inauguration ceremony and left for Florida along with his wife, Melania.

His action was said to be the first in the history of America since 1859. He was said to have rather left a letter for the new President without proper handover.

Lady Gaga coordinated the singing of the American Anthem, while Jenifer Lopez entertained the gathering with a song for unity. Both were said to have contributed to the Biden/Kamala’s campaign.
