Impact the society with SAED trainings, Akeredolu charges outgoing NYSC members

…as three best members get State’s monetary rewards

The Governor of Ondo state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has charged the outgoing Corps members in the state not to waste the efforts and resources invested on the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.

The Governor gave the charge at the passing out ceremony for the 2019 batch ‘A’ corps members held at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Arcade in Akure, the state capital.

Akeredolu, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development who doubles as the Chairman NYSC Governing Board in Ondo state, Dotun Owanikin Esq. enjoined them to bring to the fore all the trainings and skills they acquired during their service year under SAED programme which NYSC put up free of charge.

He praised the corps members for setting aside their different backgrounds and beliefs to serve their fatherland in the state and, therefore, enjoined them to always bring to use the knowledge and experience garnered to impact meaningfully to the society.

“I want to congratulate you on the successful completion of your service year which translates that you are now going into the economic market to create a new identity for yourself.

“The white collar jobs are dwindling and the focus is now on youth empowerment through skills acquisition which will definitely make you an independent future entrepreneurs and captains of industries.” He said.

He, however, ommended NYSC members for their meritorious service to the state and the country at large.

Arakunrin Akeredolu expressed gladness that the ceremony which was halted for a while as a result of security challenges in the country has been restored thereby arousing the excitements of corps members about the glamorous aspect of the service year.

The Governor who also wished the corps members well in their future endeavours assured those who wanted to settle in the state of his administration commitment to continually create an enabling environment for inhabitants to thrive.

Three corps member namely: Adewole Damilola with state code OD 19A/1987, Augustine Emmanuel Ojobi with state code OD/19A/1450 and Alhassan Abel Eleojo with state code OD/19A/0124 received the state NYSC awards with monetary rewards of a hundred thousand naira for the first position, eighty thousand naira for the second position and fifty thousand naira for the third position respectively.

The Governor was thankful for the selfless services of the corps members to the state and for citing projects in their communities, adding that their efforts would linger in the memories of all and the projects would be maitained.

He said, ” The government and the good people of Ondo state acknowledge and appreciated your selfless service to complement our administration in the onerous task of building a virile society.

“Also, I want you to leave Ondo state with positive reflections about the hospitality of our people which has created room for you to excel at your various places of primary assignments

“Going through the reports submitted to my office, I equally want to thank you for executing impactful projects in all the communities across the state. I want to add that on behalf of the benefitting communities, those projects shall be maintained and adequately taken care of.

“The legacy you are leaving behind will continue to remain fresh in our memory for a very long time to come.”

Meanwhile, 11 corps members were to repeat the service for abscondment while five others were to serve different lengths of service extensions for various offences committed.

The ceremony featured inspection of guards by the Governor as well as the parade of the corps members among others.
