The Ondo State House of Assembly yesterday expressed readiness to rebrand its partnership with the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in the state towards ensuring adequate propagation of its legislative activities.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon Bamidele Oleyelogun represented by the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon Akogun Olugbenga Omole stated this at an interactive outing with NUJ members in the State held at the Press Centre, Alagbaka-Akure.

Omole who commended journalists in the state for the high level of maturity and credibility displayed before, during and after the 2019 general elections, also expressed satisfaction with regular promotion and coverage of the Assembly’s activities.

The lawmaker, flanked by some other members of his committee, however appealed to the media to give more support and understanding in the coverage of the Assembly to enable them discharge their roles as people’s representatives especially in law making and oversight functions.

Omole urged the fourth estate of the realm to sustain the tempo and ensure positive promotion of government activities and constructively put the government and the Assembly on their toes to deliver more dividends of democracy for the masses.

He commended the giant strides of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and pledged continuous support of the legislators for the governor to achieve more.

Earlier, the Ondo State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Adetona Aderoboye had assured the lawmakers of balance reportage of their activities.

The event was attended by some members of the APC State Executives including the Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaiye, government’s appointees and members of the NUJ.
