..bye-election ‘ll signal future APC victories, says party chairman

The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday inaugurated a 128-member committee to coordinate activities for the Ondo South Senatorial District bye-election scheduled for June 20, 2026.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the party’s secretariat in Akure, the state capital, the APC State Chairman, Babatunde Kolawole, expressed confidence in the party’s preparedness and determination to secure victory in the election.

According to him, the party would not approach the election with complacency despite its confidence in winning.
“For us, we don’t want to behave as if it is going to be a walkover. We are going to work tirelessly as though we have a major opposition contesting against us. Of course, we have about three or four parties also contesting the election, but they are not a threat to us.

Nevertheless, we will work across the nooks and crannies of the state to ensure victory,” he said.

Kolawole added that the bye-election would serve as a strong indicator ahead of future elections, including the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu and other elective positions.

“It is going to send a major signal ahead of the election of Mr. President and other elective positions that we have before us,” he stated.

The APC chairman described members of the committee as experienced, competent and capable of delivering on the assignment entrusted to them.

Responding on behalf of the committee, the chairman, Femi Agagu, thanked the party leadership for finding them worthy of the responsibility.

Agagu assured the party of the committee’s commitment to the task and expressed confidence that the APC would emerge victorious in the bye-election.

He noted that he accepted the assignment with humility and a sense of duty, stressing that he harboured no grievances or ill feelings and was honoured to have been considered for the role.

He also commended members of the committee, describing them as competent individuals capable of contributing meaningfully to the party’s success in the forthcoming election.
