The Nigeria Police Force has extradited a wanted cyber fraud suspect, Samuel Ugberease, popularly known as “Putsammy” and “Putput,” to the United States over alleged online romance scams and wire fraud.

In a statement, the Police says the suspect was handed over to U.S. authorities after coordinated investigations between INTERPOL NCB Abuja and American law enforcement agencies.

Investigations revealed that between 2014 and 2018, the suspect and his syndicate allegedly used fake dating profiles to lure and defraud several women in the United States.

One of the victims reportedly lost over one point five million dollars to the fraud scheme.

The suspect was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, in December 2025, following an INTERPOL Red Notice issued by the United States.

The Federal High Court in Lagos later approved his extradition in line with Nigeria’s extradition laws.
Meanwhile, the Force says it remains committed to combating cybercrime and strengthening international security cooperation.
