..presents cash, nursing items to babies of the year
In her usual first day of the year habitual caring gesture, the wife of the Governor of Ondo State, Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, earlier today, extended hands of love to parents of newly-born babies in Akure with a presentation of cash gifts and nursing items.
Addressing the parents, Mrs Akeredolu charged them to embrace family planning and produce the number of children they could cater for.
She said: “I hope you are productive enough to provide for the upkeep of these children. Please do family planning to have enough to train these children and give them a healthy lifestyle.
“As you all know in this present digital century, is not easy to train children with all it requires, for a child born in this century to function properly you must give him or her good education, you must also provide for them balance diet to be able to grow well so that they can compete favourably. If a child is malnourished, that child will not do well in school. It’s really a lot of money to raise a child in this generation”.

She was delighted with the healthy status of the new babies, describing it as a confirmation of the low poverty rate pronounced by the National Bureau of Statistics about Ondo State.
“When they said Ondo State has the least poverty rate, this is the proof; Arakunrin will continue to bring it down to zero”. She said.

She, therefore, commended the medical personnel who gave them good ante-natal care that resulted to the bringing forth of healthy babies. “I’m very delighted to see healthy babies delivered in all these centres; definitely, is a mark that you are doing something right, I congratulate all of you that made it possible for our women to deliver in safety”.
