ODSG to support learning of French Language, says Gov Akeredolu

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN has promised to continue supporting the education and learning of French language in the State.

Making this promise on behalf of the Governor, was the State Deputy Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa while playing host to the delegation of the Nigerian Association Of French Teachers ( NAFT ) Ondo State chapter who were at the Deputy Governor’s Office on a courtesy visit on Tuesday.

The association was led on the visit by their State President, Pastor Gideon Agboola and his executives.

“Ondo State Government is thankful to your association for what you have been doing in the area of French education in the State” , declared Aiyedatiwa.

“Government collaboration with NAFT in promoting French education in the State is yielding positive results”, he said.

He noted that, there’s certainly the need to re-direct the thinking of the people in terms of understanding and speaking french language because of the fact that, neighboring countries that surrounded the country are french speaking countries.

Aiyedatiwa then assured the association of government’s readiness to look into the state of the State French Center at Oke-Eda Akure, that got burnt few months ago.

He equally promised that government through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, would look into their requests for necessary action.

Earlier, NAFT State President, Pastor Gideon Agboola appreciated government’s collaboration with the association, which has been so productive and fruitful.

“We thank the State Government for supporting us and sponsoring French competitions both in the State and at the National level from time to time” , he said.

“Our students have been performing very well both in internal and external French examinations” .

“NAFT will continue to support the great educational policy of the State Government” , he further assured.

With the Deputy Governor at the event are Secretary to State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, Chief of Staff to Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale, Head of Service, Pastor Kayode Ogundele MNI, Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Pastor Femi Agagu, Press Secretary to Governor ( Office of Deputy Governor ), Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson and Special Assistant to Governor on New Media, Ladi Okunniga .
