Ondo State Economic breakthrough underway, says Gov Akeredolu

..says ODSG attracts over #65B investments in Agric sector

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, has disclosed that with it’s current enabling environment and other attractive incentives for local and foreign investors, the State is set for it’s economic breakthrough.

According to the Governor, the State under his administration had attracted an investment value of overN65 Billion in the agricultural sector.

The Governor made this disclosure through his Deputy, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa while declared opened, the maiden Edition of Ondo Development and Economic Summit ( ODES ) held at Ondo Civic Center, Ondo on Thursday.

The well attended event was organized by Ondo State Performance and Project Monitoring Implementation Unit ( PPIMU ) in conjunction with Hessanac Consulting and Ondo Community ( Eki Investments ).

According to the Governor, “when we came on board in 2017, we received the mandate to run the affairs of the State with much enthusiasm and concerns” .

“Concern in terms of how to transform the State from the level we met it to an enviable height of sustainable economic growth” , he disclosed.

Pointing out that the State put several platforms in place to coordinate the economic, infrastructural and industrial growth of the State.

“The platforms include, Ondo Development and Investment and Promotion Agency ( ONDIPA ), Ondo State Agribusiness Empowerment Center ( OSAEC ), Ondo Entrepreneurship Agency ( ONDEA ) and several others” .

He said the State’s highly developed Human Capital, mineral resources, fertile Agricultural land, relative security and more importantly, the hospitable nature of it’s citizens and residents has made some private investors to chose the state as choice destination for their investments.

The Governor disclosed that several companies has keyed into the State’s Red Gold Initiative Programme designed for resurgence in Palm Oil product development.

“We are delighted to inform you that over 60 hectares of land had been allocated to several oil palm farmers such as JB farms ltd, Sudit Oil and Chemicals Ltd, Ellah Lakes Ltd, Bambi Farms Ltd amongst others as part of our drive to turn around the fortunes of the state for the better in the palm oil value chain” , he said.

Governor Akeredolu also spoke on plans by his administration to further open up the State for more investments and social activities .

He disclosed that the State was vigorously pursuing projects such as Deep Sea Port Development, Bitumen exploration, Roads Construction, Housing Development, Sugarcane to Ethanol Project, Free Trade Zones Development, Commercial Fishing Project, Transport and Logistics Hub, UCT Development etc .

“All these investments are to be midwifed under a well structured economically Private- Public- Partnership ( PPP ) arrangement” , he said.

The Governor applauded Ondo community for their self help projects in Ondo city.

In his own remarks, the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba ( Dr ) Victor Kiladejo agreed that government alone cannot do all the developmental projects as he appealed to the people of his kingdom to take advantage of the new initiative ( ODES ) to achieve the community’s development agenda.

Dignitaries at the event are, House of Representatives member representing Ondo West/Ondo East federal Constituency, Hon Abiola Makinde, Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba ( Dr ) Victor Kiladejo, former member, House of Representatives for Ondo West/ Ondo East federal Constituency, Hon Iranola Akinlaja, Commissioner of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Deaconess’Lola Fagbemi, Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Hon Wale Akinlosotu, and Director General PPIMU Engr Babajide Akeredolu.

Others are Chairman, Ondo State Internal Revenue Service, Mr Tolu Adegbie, Chairman, Ondo State Information Technology Agency ( SITA ), Mr Olumbe Akinkugbe, Secretary, Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency ( ONDIPA ), Barrister Femi Omomowo, Director Business ONDIPA, Engr Femi Akarakiri, MD Ore Industrial Park, Dr Femi Akinkuebi, some Ondo high Chiefs and others.
