..Classes Progress on ICT, Renewable Energy
Participants at the ongoing 2022 Bemore Summer Boot Camp have joyfully received their brand new laptops from the wife of Ondo State Governor and founder of Bemore Empowered Girl’s Foundation, Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu.

The new Lenovo Laptops were distributed on Thursday, being the 5th day of camping, to no fewer than 388 secondary school girls
from various parts of the country, currently being trained in solar technology, ICT and other life-enhancing apprenticeship.
The boot camp, holding at Mabest Academy, Oke-Ijebu, Akure, Ondo State Capital, commenced last Sunday and has since been a beehive of activities for the new entrants.

Grouped into sections labelled with the various United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the joyous Bemore girls who displayed their computers with individual names written legibly on them took photographs in groups.
In her reaction, Fayanju Aderinsola, a Bemore girl of SDG 13, expressed gladness for recieving her laptop. She thanked the First Lady for it while imploring her not to stop empowering the girl child.

“I feel very happy and grateful for having my laptop. I want to tell Grandma that we appreciate what she is doing for girls. She should please continue to do more for the girls,” she said.
Testimony Imonide of SDG 12 likewise appreciated Mrs Akeredolu for the gesture, saying: ” I love my laptop; I want to say thank you very much to the First Lady.”

Earlier, the fifth day’s activities commenced with ICT practical class where the girls were taught the operations of Microsoft word. Other classes held include renewable energy class, covering such topics as fossil fuels, categories of renewable energy, energy management, negative impacts and inherent dangers in the use of fossil fuels.

The day’s activities ended with Match-Mallo Challenge, a solar energy practical class meant to test the girls’ creative abilities, capacity for team work and problem-solving skills.
