Olumoko to lead Ondo NAWOJ for another 3yrs, as association gets new executives

New executive members of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Ondo State chapter, were today inaugurated to pilot the affairs of the Association for the next three years.

At the inauguration ceremony which took place today at the State’s secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists behind Adegbemile, Akure the state capital, Doris Olumoko of NTA Akure was reelected unopposed as Chairman, while Tola Gbadamosi of The Hope also maintains the Vice Chairmanship position.

Tosin Ighoteguono of Positive FM emerged as the new Secretary, Adefisoye Ajayi of OSRC as Assistant Secretary, while Folasade Oladehinde of Information chapel emerged as the Treasurer and Fisoye Adenitan of Positive FM as the Financial Secretary.

The National President of NAWOJ, Mrs. Ladi Bala who was represented by the national Financial Secretary, Adeola Adekunle, commended the excellent performance of the outgoing excos, as she enjoined the newly inaugurated one to work in unity and build on the achievements.

In his remarks, the State NUJ Chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite, pledged support for the new administration, while assuring the union’s commitment to prioritise the welfare of its women’s wing in taking decisions.

He used the medium to announced the readiness of the union to commence second phase of its pen estate.

Adegbite advised NAWOJ members to contribute constructively, to the success of the new administration by providing Excos with beneficial ideas.

In her acceptance speech, Doris Olumoko thanked members for the confidence reposed in her to be returned as the chairman for one more term.


According to her, to whom much is given much is expected, as she assured of the readiness to further attract more developments to the association. She noted that the outgoing executives were able to put the name of NAWOJ in the minds of people across the breadth and length of Nigeria, through various empowerment programmes for the downtrodden.

Olumoko assured that this new administration would prioritise training and retraining of members, and that there would be a deliberate lobbyiny of training opportunities for members.

She vowed that, under her watch, there would be peace, unity and progress in Ondo NAWOJ.

The outgoing Treasurer who doubles as Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor on Media, Mary Agidi, Congratulated her fellow executives for the successful tenure.

She appealed to the new executives to motivate members and make them have justification for their membership by giving them sense of belonging through welfare packages.

The Akeredolu aide lauded the impactful initiatives of the Doris Olumoko-led excos and enjoined her to keep the flag flying, to be tolerant with other executives, being a leader. She also appealed to other excos to cooperate with her for the progress of the association.
