..lauds Gov’s wife role
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Ondo State, has commended Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, for being gender sensitive in his nomination of Candidates for Commissioner and Special Adviser positions.
In a statement by the Association’s Chairperson, Mrs Doris Olumoko, Signed by its Secretary, Mrs Patience Ibe, NAWOJ notes with pleasure, that Governor Akeredolu is beginning to “do the talk” in gender sensitivity, by bringing more women on board his government through political appointments.
The Women Journalists believe, that appointment of more women into political positions in Ondo State will to a great extent, bridge the wide gap already created in women’s low representation in electoral positions in Ondo State.
Out of the fourteen Commissioner Nominees by Ondo State Governor, four are women while the seven Special Advisers Nomination has two women, including a gender advocate Mrs Olamide Falana.
While thanking the Governor for bridging the gap, NAWOJ Chairperson, Mrs Doris Olumoko also acknowledges the role of the Wife of the Governor, Mrs Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu in ensuring women inclusiveness in governance.
