Ondo NSCDC, ACFE celebrate int’l fraud awareness week

..as Gov Akeredolu decries effects of fraudulent practices on Nig’s devt

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Ondo State Command in collaboration with Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) held a 1-Day Seminar to commemorate the International Fraud Awareness Week at the Command Headquarters, Alagbaka Akure.

Speaking at the event, the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu,SAN, said the effect of fraudulent practices and corruption in the Nation calls for a collective and concerted effort by every citizen.

Mr Governor who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Security matters, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo lauded the Ondo Command NSCDC for the synergy with Sister agencies and her commitment to combating criminalities in the State.

He said the nation had witnessed series of challenges such as: Internet fraud, cyber Insecurity, hacking, kidnapping, banditry amongst others.

He noted that organizing such a Training workshop which focused on Manpower Development for NSCDC Personnel and other Security agencies is a laudable and commendable achievement because it would enhance effective service delivery.

He urged the participants to maximize the opportunity by upgrading their efficiency in the fight against corruption, internet scam and other fraudulent practices in the society.

In his reaction, the State Commandant, Dr Hammed Abodunrin said the NSCDC Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD mni has made welfare of officers as well as training and re-training of personnel a pivotal mandate hence the Command will not relent in her effort to create enabling environment for Officers and men to upscale their skills in different fields from time to time.

He stressed that “Corruption and Fraudulent practices will ceaselessly have monumental negative effect on an existing system if not promptly stamped out”. In his address tittled: “Keeping Simple things Simple” he noted that the best approach to solve a problem is to tackle it from the source with a well defined and an unbiased approach.

The program witnessed paper presentation on: Divergent of Fraudulent funds into Real Estate: A growing menace in Nigeria whch was taken by Hon. Oladeji Ebisemiju while Prof. Joseph Odekunle Fayeye delivered the second Lecture on Internet scam and other fraudulent practices- The effect on our Society. Awards and Certificates were also presented to Participants who expressed their joy for the privilege of acquiring such impactful knowledge.
