Family and friends converged on the compound of Jegele Primary school Igoba Akure North Local Government to celebrate the Headmistress of the school, Comrade Yemi Oderinde for her Pen down ceremony after 35 years in service.
The event, organised by the school in appreciation of her efforts to transform the school, witnessed testimonies of her performance from the government’s representative and members of Parents Teachers Association.

Welcoming guests to the event, the incoming Headmistress, Mrs. E. Y. Adegunloye described the celebrant as an achiever, knowledgeable, courageous, responsible and highly respected teacher.
She said: ” Your retirement is a celebration not just for all the years put in the classroom, but for every child you helped along the way and the knowledge that was impacted.
“I know how painful it is to say goodbye to someone who is less of a teacher but more of a mother. However, we all need to express our sincere gratitude to her for all her uncommon contributions to the development of this great school”.
Also speaking, the Education Secretary of Akure North Local Government, Hon. Olowere Samuel, commended her, noting that during her tenure the school was nominated for renovation and fencing, and was approved by the government.

He affirmed that the school witnessed progressive changes under her leadership and prayed she enjoyed her retirement having served government wholeheartedly.
The PTA Chairman of the school, Pa Salau Samuel testified about the cordial relationship she established between teachers and parents, and how she ensured that the pupils concentrate on their studies with moral discipline.
In her farewell message, Comrade Oderinde thanked the teachers, pupils and the parents for the glamorous ceremony.
She affirmed that the journey of 35years in service, which took her to seven schools across the state, was full of joy, pains, and agony, but saying, “despite the odds and hardness, God sees me through”.

The event featured cultural dance by the pupils, staff presentation mimicking her actions while on duty, official signing off and handover, presentation of gifts, among others.
