A 19 year-old man, Ezekiel Onkwokwo, employed by Modulore Hotel, Ijapo Estate, as a security guard has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate court sitting at Oke-eda, for allegedly neglecting his duty post and failing to prevent one Toyota Hilux vehicle parked at the Hotel from been stolen.

He was alleged to have committed the offence on January 11, 2020 at about 10pm at Modulore Hotel Ijapo Estate Akure.

According to the charge sheet, the Toyota Hilux with registration No. FG 152 C21 was parked inside the hotel by one Sofolahan Ayodele, a customers and officer of the Federal Civil Aviation of Nigeria.

The offence committed was said to be contrary to and punishable under section 515 of the Criminal Code Cap37 Vol1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sulaiman Abdullateef, urged the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and gather all prosecuting witnesses before the court on the next date.

The defence Counsel, Messr Adedamola Ambekemo, did not oppose the application of the prosecutor, but prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal term, and promised to produce reasonable and substantial surety.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Victoria Bob-manuel, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum, who must be a resident within the court jurisdiction.

She added, that the surety must swear an affidavit of means, produce evidence of tax clearance, two passport of him and the defendant. “The court police shall verify the address of the surety both business and residence”.

The case was adjourned till February 25, 2020 for mention.
