2019 Breast Cancer ‘Jog 4 Life’ awareness campaign to kick off in Ibadan next week

All is now set for the annual awareness campaign on Breast Cancer, an initiative of the wife of Ondo State governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, and founder, Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria, BRECAN.

BRECAN does hold the campaign every October with a popular signature outdoor event tagged ‘JOG FOR LIFE’ in all BRECAN State chapters since 2002, and 2019 edition is billed to kick off in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Saturday 5th October at 7am.

According to the BRECAN founder, the aim of the event is to raise breast health awareness so that the public, especially women can be knowledgeable about the disease, its signs and symptoms and go to hospital early instead of searching for spiritual solution.

Also, the event is to raise money to support the cause and patients by buying the ‘Jog for Life’ outfit- Tshirt and cap.

It is also to showcase survivorship as survivors participate in the event to demonstrate that breast cancer is not a death sentence, and to promote exercise as a healthy lifestyle.

“What started in Ibadan in 2002 with less than 100 people now attracts over 10,000 participants annually. These are people from all walks of life, young and old, who find jog for life as a fun-filled outdoor event and a wonderful way to relax on a Saturday morning”, said Mrs. Akeredolu.
