The effort of the wife of Ondo state governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu to reduce the incidence of rape, especially sexual abuse of minors to the barest minimum in the state has begun to attract positive responses.

One of such responses was the readiness of the paramount ruler and Deji of Akure, Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo, Odundun 11 to mandate all rape suspects to drink traditional water in form of taking oath before legal action.

The monarch stated this in his palace during the ‘Walk Against Rape’, an initiative of Mrs. Akeredolu to curb the menace in Akure, which took off in his palace early today.

Oba Aladetoyinbo who lamented the level of stigmatisation that rape victims are subjected to, enjoined men to be satisfied with their women for a consensual intercourse rather than destroying the future of the innocent girls.
