Emergence of Lawan, good omen for new phase of democracy- Ondo APC

The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC, has described the emergence of Senator Ahmed Lawan as the President of the Senate as a good omen for a new phase of democracy and all-round development in Nigeria.

In a press release issued by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Alex Kalejaye which was made available to journalists, Lawan was described as one of the most patriotic, well-cultured, and disciplined senators Nigeria has ever produced.

According to the Party, Lawan’s deputy, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the new Deputy is also an experienced political tactician, and loyal partyman.

The party however enjoined Nigerians to expect robust, intense and thorough debate on all issues in the hallowed chambers of the National Assembly, without erecting stumbling blocks on the path of national development.

“We heartily rejoice with the National Assembly, and congratulate the new Senate President, his deputy, the Speaker, his deputy and other elected officers on their elevation.

“Lawan, has repeatedly promised to lead a Senate that is devoid of rancour, work harmoniously with the other arms of government, without compromising the independence of the legislative arm. We trust that these would be the hallmarks of his tenure as the President of the Senate.

“We commend the dexterity, and efforts of all the leaders of APC, particularly that of the National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, and the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, His Excellency, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, for this laudable feat.

“The State chapter also congratulates the new Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, saying the new leadership in the National Assembly would justify the confidence reposed in it”, the statement reads.
