… as Police say investigation has commenced on the matter

The Judge


Sequel to the physical assault meted on a 68 years old Assistant Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Glory Tabernacle Ijapo Akure, by a Justice Folayemi Omoleye during the church’s Wednesday Divine Encounter service, the management of RCCG has said it had petitioned the National Judicial Council to that effect.


Confirming the incident to JATS Communications, the administrative officer of the church who witnessed the alleged assault, Mr. Olatunde Awoyelu affirmed that the health condition of the victim, Mrs. Felicia Akindurotoye has as a result of the assault deteriorated, noting that her Blood Pressure has increased abnormally due to the physical injury she sustained.

Shedding light on the brouhaha, the administrative officer, who is also an Assistant Pastor in charge of RCCG Glory Tabernacle explained that, members of the church were holding the normal Wednesday programme which normally commences by 10am when the said Judge of the Akure Court of Appeal stormed the service and started harassing everyone.


According to him, the old woman confronted the Jugde who is also a female and challenged her not to distruct the service, but the Jugde descended on her and beat her black and blue using the woman’s slipper.


He added that blood started gulping out of the woman’s mouth and that due to the status of the Jugde, members of the church restrained from retaliating in order not to take law into their own hands.


Upon sighting another Pastor who brought out his phone to record the uproar, the Jugde was said to moved closer to him and also slapped him for recording her.


Awoyelu briefed that the Jugde has been at loggerhead with the church since she relocated to the area having shared a fence with the church that has been situated there for 30years.


He noted that the church made move to make peace with her and that she always direct them to her personal lawyer in Lagos, which they eventually sent a letter to.


According to him, the church is an Air-conditioned type that do closes its doors during service in order not to disturb the neighbours, but the Judge keeps engaging in battle with the church until the Wednesday attack.


Officers of the Ijapo Police station was however said to had rushed down to the scene to contain the situation.


Confirming the incident, the The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Ondo State Command, Mr Femi Joseph said officers of the command led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ijapo, had visited the judge and questioned her about the incident, noting that investigation has commenced on the matter.
