Social Democratic Party, SDP, House of Assembly Candidate in Ifedore area of Ondo State, Emmanuel Famose has denied the allegation that he was given money to work for the All Progressives Party in the just concluded election.
Famose in a statement released to react to rumours being peddled by his opposition parties in the local government said he wasn’t involved in anti-party activity to support the House of Assembly Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun who won the election.
The Igbara- Oke native also explained that he did not hold any meeting with Oleyelogun prior to the election but was more focused on getting victory for SDP.
His words “ Nobody sponsored me. Actually, Bamidele Oleyelogun and PDP candidate in Ifedore local government ,Tope Komolafe invited me at different times , but I did not meet with either of them so as to avoid unnecessary pressure.
I neither stepped down nor endorsed anyone from the opposition party in Ifedore state constituency.
Famose however alleged chieftains of his Party and the winner of the House of Representatives election in Idanre / Ifedore Federal Constituency, Tajudeen Adefisoye of betraying him in favour of the PDP in the last House of Assembly election in the state.
” I have been the one funding the SDP in Ifedore alongside Mr Famoritiye for the past four years.
” I believed this was the time to get my rewards , but my Party, SDP, turned its back against me.
” I was informed that the chairman of my party, SDP in Ifedore local government, Dinakin Adewumi and other chieftains of the party held meetings at Tope Komolafe’s Residence in Akure ahead of the election.
“Before that time, Tajudeen Adefisoye also known as ‘Small Alhaji ‘ had promised to support my campaign but few days to the election, he acted in contrary to all he had promised .
“Adefisoye also sent his Personal Assistant to give me a sum of four hundred and fifty thousand naira ,#450,000 , as agent fees for the house of assembly election but I did not collect the money. I directed the PA to Mr Dinakin .
“It should be on record that small alhaji won in Ifedore because of my support and popularity as well as the people. He did not win in Idanre local government.
“Small Alhaji and SDP in Ifedore Betrayed me with their anti party activities.
” Whoever involved in blackmailing me will surely get his reward ” Famose Said.
Famose noted that ,nevertheless, he had conceded defeat and congratulated Oleyelogun for his victory.
He however hinted that he will still be involved in grassroot politics, especially anything that involves the youths in Ifedore local government, adding that his decision over his political party would be made known soon.
