2019 elections:NYSC to start training members

The National Youth Service Corps ,NYSC is to start early training of corps members in preparation for the conduct of next year’s general election.

NYSC coordinator in Ondo state, Mrs Grace Akpabio stated this at the swearing in ceremony of the 2018 batch B corps members deployed to Ondo state at ikare Akoko orientation camp.

Mrs Akpabio explained that the scheme in collaboration with INEC and security agencies had mapped out plans for their training to get the corps members ready for the election by February 2019.

She disclosed that a total of 1913 corps members were registered with another 177 dislodged from Lagos state for the orientation exercise and had shown readiness to serve their country.

Mrs Akpabio however warned the corps members against any act of indiscipline as anyone found wanting would be sanctioned .

In a message, the governor of Ondo state ,Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu ,SAN urged the corps members to embrace skill acquisition and entrepreneurship programme for them to be independent.

Akeredolu, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, gave the assurance that his government will continue to make the welfare of corps members a priority.

Akeredolu assured the corps members in the state of adequate security of their lives and property.

“This is an opportunity for you to sow into people’s lives and the reward will surely follow. This present administration in the state is very much committed and passionate about youths,” he said.
