1st Year Anniversary : 180 women to be empowered with N18m loan

No fewer than 10 women from each of the 18 local government area of Ondo state are to be empowered with a sum of N100,000 each by the State government through the State Micro Credit Agency as part of activities marking Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s first year anniversary in office.

Briefing journalists at Cocoa conference hall of the governor’s office, the Chairman of the First year Anniversary Planning Committee and Commissioner for Finance, Mr Wale Akinterinwa said activities will kick off on Monday 19th February with a lecture to be delivered by a Professor of Law, Akin Oyebode on the topic “Rethinking the Nigerian Nationhood:Issues and Challenges” .

According to him, the lecture will be chaired by a former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Alani Akinrinade.

Akinterinwa noted that the event will also feature the commissioning of roads and flagging off of new ones across the three senatorial districts of the state by the governor.

According to him, other activities include the commissioning of the Technology Hub at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), jumat service at the Akure Central Mosque, choral and virtual pipe organ concert at St Patrick’s Anglican Church, Owo, APC unification rally at the MKO Abiola Democracy Park, Akure, and a media chat by Akeredolu at the Ondo State Rediovision Corporation (OSRC).

The anniversary committee chairman said government will present an award of excellence to students who performed brilliantly in all competitions, command performance, novelty match between the executives and the lawmakers as well as Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC.

Noting that the anniversary will end with an Inter-denominational service at the Dome in Akure, Akinterinwa added that the cost of the event is minimal in view of the economic realities in the state and Akeredolu’s modest disposition to governance.
Also speaking at the briefing, the Commissioner for Information, Yemi Olowolabi said all logistics have been put in place to ensure the event is hitch free.
