Ondo-based youth development advocate, Jonathan Obatola, has expressed gratitude to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for appointing him as a Special Assistant, describing the appointment as his first political appointment into government.
Obatola, in a statement on his Facebook page expressing appreciation to the governor, said the appointment marked a significant milestone in his journey towards a more direct involvement in governance.
He noted that although he had always believed he would eventually play a role in the political space, he did not anticipate that Aiyedatiwa would be the leader to open the door for him.
“While I knew the opportunity would come someday, I never imagined that Governor Aiyedatiwa would be the leader to open this door for me,” he said.
The new appointee explained that he had, over the years, found fulfilment in supporting friends, colleagues and government officials from behind the scenes, contributing to governance and public service without necessarily seeking recognition.
He said the appointment would provide an opportunity to serve from a different position and contribute more directly to the administration and development of Ondo State.
Obatola thanked Aiyedatiwa for the confidence reposed in him, acknowledging that the appointment came with responsibilities and expectations.
He pledged loyalty and commitment to the governor’s administration, assuring that he would discharge his duties diligently and work towards the successful implementation of the administration’s development agenda.
“I do not take your confidence in me for granted. I recognise that this appointment comes with expectations and an obligation to justify the trust you have placed in me,” he stated.
Obatola further assured the governor of his determination to contribute meaningfully to the success of the administration and the overall development of the state.
