..say countries with increased women leadership achieve better economic growth
Youth Leaders under the aegis of Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), have announced their support for the aspiration of Imo-born First Lady of Ondo State, Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, to represent Imo East Senatorial seat in the Red Chamber come 2023 general election.
In a Press Statement issued by COSEYL titled: “Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu Will Change The Narrative For Good”, the SouthEast Youth Leaders asserted that Imo East Senatorial District could be 100% sure of development if she represents the constituency at the Senate.
Read the Statement: “We Urge All To Support Her Genuine Ambition.
“The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, the umbrella body of all the youth groups in the South East geopolitical zone after a careful thought-out analysis of the antecedent of our daughter Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu who after her marriage to the present Executive Governor of Ondo State, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu call on all and sundry in Imo East Senatorial District to wholeheartedly support her genuine ambition to represent the good people of the Senatorial zone at the Senate come 2023.
“From all indications, it has been proven beyond reasonable doubt that her ambition to represent her people at the red Chambers is born out of her genuine concern and compassion for her people who trained and nurtured her in school before giving out her hand in marriage.
“It is only a good daughter of the soil who has the interest of her people at heart will remember her place of birth and would genuine want to reward them for nurturing her well. This bold step by our daughter have shown that she is not an “efulafu” ( meaning a child that has lost her direction).
“Women of her kind are not easy to come by in a generation. She is a special women sent by God to be a blessing to her people and we are grateful to God for touching her to make herself available to serve humanity.
“As a woman who has the interest of her people at heart despite being married in Ondo State, she attracted the construction of a 10.5km road worth N1.6 billion from Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, and it is currently under construction. What a woman of good heart and virtue.
“Though we are non-partisan in all sense of word, but we have to say the truth when we see one because only the truth shall set us free.
“Albert Eistein, a German Jew and one of the greatest men that ever lived opined that a man’s value to the community in which he lives, depends first and foremost on the extent to which his thoughts, actions and sentiments contribute to other individual’s existence.
“Betty has shown that she is a woman who have interest to contribute to other individual’s assistance which she has demonstrated by many developmental projects that she has attracted to her senatorial zone. she sponsored no fewer than 200 girls with technological knowledge and a special focus on information and many more human capital projects.
“Of a truth, Imo East Senatorial zone has gone beyond theoritical minded people who only studied but never practiced. The constituency is in dire need of a practical oriented someone who should be able to initiate programmes and bring them to fruition. We have gone beyond the stage of bringing on board sedentary people. The constituency is fed up with people whose job description involves moving files from one table to another.
“Studies have shown that countries with increased women leadership achieve better economic growth, development and Peace. Betty’s election to the Senate will help boost Nigeria status as one of the countries making efforts to improve women’s representation in elective office. It will enable incremental growth in political representation for women.
“it is projected that closing gender gaps in Nigeria can lead to 9% GDP gains by 2025 ( Growing Economies Through Gender parity Analysis).
“We therefore urge the good people of Imo East Senatorial district to support their daughter Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu who have demonstrated that she is someone who can think out of the box to represented them at the Senate come 2023”.

Hon. Goodluck Ibem
